I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?
Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.
What type of therapy do you do?
The type of therapy I provide is called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This type of therapy is supported by evidenced-based research to help with traumatizing experiences and decrease symptoms. More information can be found here.
I am also a trained therapist in Ketamine-Assisted EMDR TherapyTM (KA-EMDR). More information can be found here.
While EMDR is my primary therapy, I may incorporate principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) into our sessions.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I currently accept the following commercial insurances:
- Aetna
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Blue Care Network
- Priority Health
- United/Optum/Oxford
I do not accept Medicaid or Medicare plans at this time even if it's through one of the insurances listed above.
I am unable to offer a sliding fee scale or reduced rates at this time.
If I do not accept your insurance, feel free to ask about superbills so that you may submit out-of-network claims for potential reimbursement from your insurance plan. Any reimbursement from out-of-network insurance is your responsibility to manage with your insurance provider.
Payment is due in full at the time of all appointments. A valid credit card on file is required.
Special note: I do not accept insurance for EMDR Intensives or for Ketamine-Assisted EMDR TherapyTM sessions.
How long will it take?
Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time in therapy depends on quite a few factors. On average, I see EMDR clients consistently on a weekly or biweekly basis for about 6-9 months. Once the EMDR goal has been completed, some move on from therapy, some transfer to another talk-based therapist for additional therapy work, or some come back for as needed check-in sessions or "EMDR booster sessions."
How long are sessions?
Typically weekly or biweekly sessions are about 50-60 minutes.
I also offer EMDR Intensives that are broken up into 3 parts. More information about those services can be found here.
I will also be offering 90 minute Ketamine-Assisted EMDR TherapyTM sessions, stay tuned for more information!
I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your EMDR sessions. Your active participation, dedication, and consistent attendance will be crucial to your success.
