FAQs

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?

Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.

What type of therapy do you do?

The type of therapy I provide is called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This type of therapy is supported by evidenced-based research to help with traumatizing experiences and decrease symptoms. More information can be found here.

I am also offering Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) at Michigan Advanced Psychiatry of Troy, in partnership with KindMind Counseling. More information can be found here.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, Priority Health, and United/Optum. I have a billing team who can run your benefits and let you know what sessions would cost. If I do not accept your insurance, you can request a superbill that may be submitted to your insurance for partial reimbursement.

Insurance and billing questions regarding ketamine treatment can be directed to Michigan Advanced Psychiatry of Troy.

How long will it take?

Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time in therapy depends on quite a few factors. On average, I see EMDR clients consistently on a weekly or biweekly basis for about 6-9 months. Once the EMDR goal has been completed, some move on from therapy, some transfer to another traditional talk therapist for additional goals work, or some come back for as needed check-in sessions or "EMDR booster sessions."

How long are sessions?

Typically weekly or biweekly sessions are about 50-60 minutes. I also offer 6-hour EMDR Intensives that are broken up into 3 parts. More information about those services can be found here.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?

I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your EMDR sessions. Your active participation, dedication, and consistent attendance will be crucial to your success.
